How to Reset Blink Sync Module

If your Blink Sync Module is offline, won't connect to Wi-Fi, or you're setting it up on a new network, a reset can often solve the problem. The exact steps vary slightly depending on whether you want a standard reset or a factory reset.

Method 1: Standard Reset (Recommended First)

This method keeps the module available for setup without performing a full factory reset.

Sync Module 2, Sync Module Core, and Sync Module XR

Step 1: Locate the reset button on the back of the Sync Module.

Step 2: Press and hold the reset button until the LED turns solid red.

Step 3: Release the button.

Step 4: Wait for the LEDs to change to:

  • Blinking Blue LED

  • Solid Green LED

When you see this light pattern, the Sync Module is in setup mode and ready to reconnect through the Blink app.

Sync Module (1st Generation)

Step 1: Locate the reset button beside the USB port.

Step 2: Use a paperclip or toothpick to press the recessed button until you feel a click.

Step 3: Wait for:

  • Blinking Blue LED

  • Solid Green LED

The module is now ready for setup.

Method 2: Factory Reset (For Serious Connection Issues)

Use this method if the Sync Module refuses to connect to Wi-Fi or continues showing offline errors.

Detailed Steps

Step 1: Unplug the Sync Module from power.

Step 2: Press and hold the reset button.

Step 3: While continuing to hold the button, plug the Sync Module back into power.

Step 4: Keep holding the button for approximately 5 seconds.

Step 5: Release the button when the LED begins flashing red.

Step 6: Wait for the startup sequence to finish.

Step 7: Confirm the LEDs show:

  • Blinking Blue

  • Solid Green

This indicates the factory reset is complete and the device is ready to be added again in the Blink app.

Reconnect the Sync Module After Reset

After resetting:

  1. Open the Blink app.

  2. Tap the "+" icon.

  3. Select Sync Module.

  4. Scan the QR code or enter the serial number manually.

  5. Connect the module to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting If Reset Doesn't Work

Check power supply: Use the original Blink power adapter if possible.

Use a paperclip: The reset button is recessed and may not activate with a finger.

Wait 60 seconds after reset: Some modules need additional time to finish booting.

Restart your router: Many users report success after rebooting the router before reconnecting the Sync Module.

Verify 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi: Blink Sync Modules connect only to 2.4 GHz wireless networks.
