How to Reset Ford Ranger Screen 2024

If the touchscreen on your 2024 Ford Ranger is frozen, black, slow, or not responding, you can usually fix it by rebooting the SYNC system. The 2024 Ranger uses Ford’s newer SYNC infotainment system, and a reboot does not normally erase your saved settings.

Method 1: Soft Reset the Ford Ranger Screen

Try this first if the screen is frozen or behaving strangely.

  1. Start the vehicle or switch the ignition to ON.

  2. Locate the Power/Volume button for the audio system.

  3. Locate the Seek Right / Next Track (>>|) button.

  4. Press and hold the Power button and Seek Right button at the same time.

  5. Continue holding them for about 10 seconds.

  6. The touchscreen should turn black.

  7. Release the buttons when the Ford/SYNC startup screen appears.

  8. Allow the system to fully restart.

Ford recommends this button combination as the standard SYNC system reset procedure.

This reset is useful for problems such as:

  • 2024 Ford Ranger screen frozen

  • Touchscreen not responding

  • Screen stuck on the Ford logo

  • Bluetooth not connecting

  • Apple CarPlay or Android Auto problems

  • Radio controls not responding

  • Screen temporarily going black

A soft reset normally does not erase paired phones, radio presets, navigation destinations, or other personal settings.

Method 2: Turn the Ranger Completely Off

If the button reset does not work:

  1. Turn the Ranger off.

  2. Open the driver's door.

  3. Close the door.

  4. Lock the vehicle.

  5. Keep the key away from the truck briefly so the vehicle's electronic modules can shut down.

  6. Unlock the Ranger and restart it.

  7. Check the touchscreen again.

This can help when the infotainment system remains partially powered after the engine is switched off.

Method 3: Perform a SYNC Factory/Master Reset

Use this option if the screen works but you continue having Bluetooth, CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, or SYNC problems.

From the touchscreen, look for a menu similar to:

Settings → General → Reset → Master Reset / Factory Reset

Follow the on-screen confirmation prompts.

Ford provides a Master/Factory Reset option for persistent SYNC problems.

Important

A factory/master reset is different from the simple button reboot. It can remove personal information and settings, including:

  • Bluetooth-paired phones

  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connections

  • Saved SYNC preferences

  • Some navigation or connected-service settings

You'll need to reconnect your phone afterward.

If the 2024 Ford Ranger Screen Is Completely Black

If there is no display at all, first try the Power + Seek Right reset for approximately 10 seconds.

If it stays black, check whether the radio still produces sound or whether steering-wheel audio controls work. If the entire infotainment system appears dead even after restarting the vehicle, the problem may involve a fuse, power supply, APIM/SYNC module, display module, wiring connection, or software fault rather than something a normal screen reset can correct.

Quick Reset

For most 2024 Ford Ranger screen problems:

Ignition ON → Hold Power/Volume + Seek Right for about 10 seconds → Wait for the Ford/SYNC screen to restart.
