2014 Ford Escape Oil Life Reset

For the 2014 Ford Escape Oil Life Reset, the procedure is done through the instrument cluster using steering wheel controls. This model uses the Ford message center system, so no scan tool is required.

The steps are slightly different depending on whether you have the 4.2-inch display (most common) or the MyFord Touch, but the reset logic is similar.

Method 1: Using Steering Wheel Controls (Most 2014 Escape models)
Turn the ignition to ON (do not start the engine).
Use the steering wheel arrow buttons to access the Settings menu on the instrument cluster.
Scroll to Vehicle Settings and press OK.
Find Oil Life Reset or Oil Life option.
Press and hold the OK button until the display shows “Reset Successful” or oil life returns to 100%.
Turn ignition OFF, then restart the vehicle to confirm reset.

Method 2: If Oil Life Menu is Not Visible
Turn ignition ON.
Fully press both accelerator and brake pedals at the same time.
Hold for about 20–30 seconds.
Watch the cluster until it shows Oil Reset in Progress / Complete.
Release pedals and turn ignition OFF.

Important Notes
The system does not reset automatically after an oil change—you must manually reset it every time.
If the reset fails, repeat the process with ignition in ON position and ensure all doors are closed (some modules block reset if the vehicle is not in a stable state).
After reset, oil life should read 100%, confirming the system has been cleared.
