2016 Ford Escape Oil Life Reset

For a 2016 Ford Escape, the oil life reset is done through the dashboard system (no scanner needed). The steps are as follows:

First, turn the ignition to ON position (engine OFF). You can press the START/STOP button without pressing the brake, or turn the key to ON if your model uses a key. The engine must NOT be running.

Next, use the steering wheel buttons and press SETUP / MENU, then scroll until you find Vehicle Settings or Oil Life.

Then select Oil Life Reset. Highlight it and press OK to enter the reset screen.

Now press and hold OK button for 3–5 seconds until the display shows “Oil Life Set to 100%” or confirms the reset is complete.

After that, turn the ignition OFF, then start the engine normally to confirm the warning light is cleared.

Alternative method (backup option):

Turn ignition to ON (engine OFF), then press and hold both the accelerator pedal + brake pedal at the same time for about 20–30 seconds until oil life resets to 100%. Release pedals and turn ignition OFF.

After reset, the system will return to 100% oil life and the maintenance reminder will disappear.
