The Ford F-150 uses the oil life monitoring system (OLM), which calculates oil condition based on driving habits. After an oil change, you must manually reset it through the dashboard or steering controls depending on model year.
Method 1: 2015–2020 Ford F-150 (SYNC / Digital Cluster System)
Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Use the steering wheel controls to enter the Settings menu on the instrument cluster. Scroll to Vehicle → Oil Life Reset. Press and hold OK until the system displays 100%. The reset is complete when “Oil Life Set to 100%” appears.
Method 2: 2011–2014 Ford F-150 (Message Center System)
Switch ignition to ON. Use the arrow buttons on the steering wheel to access Setup → Vehicle Settings → Oil Life Reset. Press and hold the RESET/OK button for a few seconds until the oil life returns to 100%.
Method 3: 2009–2010 Ford F-150 (Older Message Display System)
Turn ignition ON. Press the RESET button on the dashboard repeatedly until “OIL LIFE” is shown. Press and hold the RESET button until the percentage resets to 100%.
Method 4: Key Cycle Manual Reset (Some Base Models)
Turn ignition ON without starting engine. Fully press accelerator pedal and brake pedal together for about 10–20 seconds. Release pedals when the oil change light flashes or resets.
After reset, turn ignition OFF and restart the engine to confirm the oil life shows 100%. If it does not reset, repeat the procedure carefully or check if the correct menu path matches your F-150 model year.
