Reset 2014 Ford Escape Oil Light

How to Reset the Oil Change Light on a 2014 Ford Escape: Reset the oil change indicator only after the engine oil and oil filter have been replaced.

  1. Park the vehicle safely and shift the transmission into Park (P).

  2. Turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine.

    • For a keyed ignition, turn the key to the ON position.

    • For push-button start, press the START/STOP button without pressing the brake pedal.

  3. Fully press the accelerator pedal and brake pedal at the same time.

  4. Keep both pedals fully pressed. After approximately three seconds, the instrument panel should display a message such as “Service: Oil Reset in Progress.”

  5. Continue holding both pedals down for approximately 25 seconds.

  6. Wait until the display shows “Service: Oil Reset Complete” or a similar confirmation message.

  7. Release both pedals.

  8. Turn the ignition completely off.

  9. Start the engine and check the instrument panel. The oil-change warning should no longer appear.

If the reset does not work, turn the ignition off and repeat the procedure. Make sure both pedals are pressed fully and remain pressed until the reset-complete message appears. This procedure resets the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor; it does not correct low oil pressure, low oil level, or an engine warning caused by a mechanical problem.
