Ford F150 Tire Pressure Sensor Reset

The correct procedure depends on whether you are clearing a low-pressure warning or retraining the sensors after tire rotation/replacement.

Clear the Low-Pressure Warning

  1. Park the F-150 and allow the tires to cool.

  2. Check all four tires with an accurate pressure gauge.

  3. Inflate them to the pressure printed on the driver-door/B-pillar tire label. Do not use the maximum pressure shown on the tire sidewall.

  4. Drive above 20 mph (32 km/h) for at least two minutes.

The warning light may not disappear immediately after adding air. Ford confirms that driving may be required before the system updates. Ford TPMS information

Retrain the TPMS Sensors

Use this procedure after rotating tires or when the truck displays incorrect tire positions.

  1. Drive above 20 mph for at least two minutes, then park.

  2. Turn the ignition off.

  3. Turn the ignition on without starting the engine.

  4. Within 10 seconds, turn the hazard lights on and off three times.

  5. The horn should sound once and the display should show Train Left Front Tire.

  6. Starting with the left-front tire, hold a compatible TPMS activation tool beside the valve stem and activate the sensor.

  7. Wait for the horn to sound, then continue in this order:

    • Left front

    • Right front

    • Right rear

    • Left rear

  8. After the final sensor is recognized, the horn should sound and the display may show Training Complete.

Do not wait more than two minutes between tires. Ford sells an activation tool designed for many 2015–2023 F-150 models.

If the Light Still Stays On

  • Solid light: One or more tires may still be underinflated.

  • Flashes, then remains solid: Usually indicates a sensor or TPMS system fault.

  • A replacement sensor may require programming before it can be trained.

  • Also check for a damaged sensor, incompatible sensor frequency, dead sensor battery, or pressure loss caused by a puncture.

Because the exact reset method varies by model year, the truck’s owner’s manual should be treated as the final authority.
